BOYNE ROVERS 1 v SKB 2
The disappointment of the first teams defeat against Yellowstone Celtic last night was lifted somewhat this afternoon when our Senior Saturday side travelled to Boyne Rovers in Drogheda and kept their league challange on track by coming from a goal down to win 2-1 - a great win made all the more satisfying as it was achieved with only ten men due to the squad being hit by a series of withdrawls prior to travelling.
Eddie Rupieka one of last years Under 18 squad who has made the step up to the senior squad this season scored both goals this afternoon having also come off the bench for the first team in last nights defeat.
Well done to managers Mick McBride and Andy McKenna and the players.
SKB 1 v YELLOWSTONE CELTIC 2
A very poor performance all round tonight by our first team produced the inevitable defeat (1-2) at home to Yellowstone Celtic. Yellowstone with only one league win all season and in danger of relegation showed greater determination all through and might have added to their scoreline had the referee been in a more lenient mood - turning away two penalty claims in the first half before awarding one with fifteen minutes to go which turned out to be the winner .
Although it was only SKB's second league defeat of the season it deals their title aspirations a heavy blow.
Next up is the last 16 round of the Polikoff Cup next Friday in St Aidans at 8pm against Mid-Sutton Sportslink - who knocked SKB out of the Leinster Junior Cup earlier this year.
