Two goals up and in total control of the game after twelve minutes with strikes from Ger Noone and Jordan Pitshou our Under 17 Premier team somehow surrendered the initiative to Nurney Villa for the remainder of the first half and were pegged back to 2-2 at the break.
John Barry restored the lead again after five minutes of the second half but again Nurney came back to level it within minutes.
Captain Jamie Carrig Byrne received a second yellow card with twelve minutes gone in the second half and lost goalkeeper Godfrey Yodo with a knee injury soon afterwards but even with ten minutes injury time added at the end of the game both sides could not find the elusive winner despite both teams having chances to win it. The winner arrived in the first period of extra time when Nurney number 4 Jack Treacy scored from twenty five yards to set up an exciting finish to the game where depite numerous freekicks and corners the 10 men could not find a way to level matters and bring the game to penalties.
SKB are involved in yet another major cup final this coming Saturday afternoon when our 17 DDSL Premier team play Nurney Villa in the final of the Leinster Youths Cup at Newbridge Town's ground in Station Road, Newbridge at 2pm.
Our 17's are enjoying a successful season to date having won the short season Under 17 Premier Shield competition, they reached the semi final of the FAI Under 17 Cup where they lost 1-0 to Carrigaline United in what was their most disappointing performance of the season so far, so they will be anxious to get their hands on the Provincial title against Nurney Villa who came from 2 goals down against our Under 18 Premier team in the other semi final so a tough encounter lies ahead.
All support greatly appreciated.
