Last night our 16 Premier completed a treble for this season by adding the DDSL Under 16 Premier League title to the SFAI Barry Cup and DDSL McGrath Cup titles already won but those statistics barely portray the enormous achievement of the players and managers of this group in that they have had to play 14 high pressured games over the past two months with absolutely no room for error - a draw in any of their ten League games during that period would have handed the League to Malahide United. In lots of those games they have had to deal with sendings off (some times more than one in a game), coming from behind and all the while continuing to play some of the best attacking football of any team in the Club. While this group has always been blessed with good players that hasn't always shown in a tangeable way with Cup or League successes, last year they were DDSL Under 15 Premier League runners up but certainly the management team of Elliot Morgan, Joe Byrne and Alan Doody have had a galvanizing effect and the effort that the players continue to put in has been rewarded. We hope to build on this success going forward into next season at Under 17 level but we will have to do so without three of this years squad - team Captain Trevor Clarke is signing for Middlesboro, Robert McCourt is going to West Bromwich Albion and Daniel Mandriou is bound for Brighton and Hove Albion. We wish them the best of luck as they embark on the next stage of their football career and a presentation will be made to them to mark their departure at the Club's presentation on June 29th at 12 noon in the Regency Hotel, Swords Road.
